Anybody you ask these days will tell you they are busy. The question is not are you busy – the question is are you making a difference? As you do your work, what separates your work from someone else's work? You should have a desire to do not just good work, but work that is distinctive. Distinctive work is what makes your work special. Leaders look for distinctive work because it creates value for the organization. It doesn't matter how hard you work, if there is nothing distinctive about your work you won't get noticed and that means you won't get paid much either.
